Overview

TopWindow is a native macOS utility that keeps any window always on top. The app is designed to work locally: window pinning, management, and all core functionality run entirely on your Mac. We do not collect or track your personal data in the app, and we never sell or share your information.

Window Content Stays on Your Mac

TopWindow uses Apple's ScreenCaptureKit to display a live copy of pinned windows above other apps. This content is processed locally on your Mac and never leaves your device — TopWindow does not store, upload, or transmit window content.

The Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions TopWindow requests are used solely for the app's core features: detecting the active window and displaying a live preview. Nothing is stored or transmitted.

Information You Provide

When you register an account, we collect the information you provide, such as your email address and name. We use the collected information to provide, maintain, and improve our services, and to deliver the licenses and support you request.

License Validation

The only network activity in TopWindow is license validation. When you activate or verify your license, the app sends a device identifier so we can manage your device activations. No other usage data is collected by the app.

Analytics

Our website uses privacy-conscious analytics to understand how visitors use the site: Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization and advertising personalization disabled, Umami (a privacy-friendly analytics service), and Microsoft Clarity for session behavior insights. These tools track page views and website interactions only — they never have access to your window content or any data inside the app.

Payments

Purchases on our website are processed by third-party payment providers (Creem and Paddle). Payment card details are handled entirely by the provider and are never stored by us. We only receive the order confirmation data needed to grant your license.

Data Retention

We keep your account information (email address, name, and device identifiers) for as long as your account is active or your license remains valid. Analytics data is retained according to each analytics provider's retention policies.
